Put a Massage Vacation on Your Calendar
It doesn’t matter where you live. In middle of winter when the temperatures refuse to get as high as we like, there’s one thing on everyone’s mind. Vacation! Not just any vacation either–we want to go where it’s warm and we can be pampered.
Anyone familiar with the travel industry knows that the trend in vacation destinations has shifted toward those resorts that offer a full range of amenities and on the top of the most-requested list are spa services. To be even more specific, vacationers want to go where they can get the best massage. This is true even when you are talking about men. They may say they’re going for the golf or the deep sea fishing but statistics show that men are increasingly turning to the relaxation benefits of massage.
As more is being learned about the extreme dangers of carrying high levels of stress and how that leads to high mortality rates at a frighteningly young age, men are educating themselves on ways to reduce this trend. While there are certainly benefits to be derived from recreational pursuits such as golf and fishing, they each carry their own triggers for stress. Just ask the spouse of a golfer who had a bad day on the links! Massage, on the other hand, is not competitive in any sense and is actually one of the few occasions where men can totally relax.
So, do yourself and your partner a favor. Pull out those travel brochures and look for one with a fabulous spa. Check to see how many types of massage they offer. There’s always the favorite, Swedish massage, but consider trying something different. Look for the incredibly relaxing hot stone massage and the ever-popular couples massage. Perhaps you might consider combining one of your favorite massage techniques with an hour or so in a romantic private hot tub overlooking the ocean or nestled in the mountains.
We all work hard and often carry nearly debilitating levels of stress. That’s not likely to change so the best thing we can do for ourselves and those that depend on us is to take a break, de-stress and recharge. A spa vacation with as many massages as you can work in is the perfect choice.
